Sweet Summertime!

I am so excited that it is summer!! That means lots of time spent with my friends and family, and time to spend working on my own little projects...

We've got some good stuff planned this summer, and I cannot wait. This weekend, in celebration of "June is a Birthday month!" (Carolyn, Andrea, and I all have birthdays this month)the Girls and I will be spending saturday at the W hotel in Dallas. Our own little "staycation". This will call for a fun day spent by a gorgeous pool drinking some summertime beverages, and a fun night of getting dressed up and heading to the GhostBar. It will be like reliving last years trip to the GhostBar in Vegas, just on a smaller scale! Then at the end of July we have rented an awesome house in Port Aransas, TX that is super close to the beach and will fit 10 of us in one place. It has a rooftop patio, and several balconies, and we are going to have BIG FUN! We have secret plans to use "the men" for carrying our supplies and cooking our food... :)

I plan on Living it up this summer and really enjoying myself before my first year as a "real grown up"!!... more on that later... :)

Let's try this again...

Okay.... after some encouragement, I've decided to take another try at blogging. While the first time led to failure, do to my apparently uninteresting life, I'm hoping that this time around my life might be a little more interesting... Maybe.

So, I've recently started a long-term sub assignment teaching 3rd grade, and I am having a lot of fun, and enjoying the challenge. It is hard stepping in so far into the school year, and each day is a learning experience for both the kids and myself. I'm eagerly looking for a full time teaching job for next year, and am hoping that this experience will help add a little boost to my application... There are so many teachers looking for jobs right now, every little thing helps!
In other BIG news, Rachel moved to Chicago last weekend, and I am slowly adjusting to the idea of my sister living far, far away :( As sad as I am for me, I am really excited for her, because this is something she has wanted to do for a long time. I am also excited to have a good reason to the city to visit. Typically when we go up there, we stay with family outside of the city and only go in for a day trip, so I am looking forward to getting to stay in the Windy City!
Here's a Pic of us singing Karaoke before she left... Nothing like a Hertel Girl rendition of Black Velvet..

I have also recently taken up a few new hobbies that I am really enjoying. I am learning to sew, and it is so much fun! My mom and I are taking classes every once in a while, and have made some really cool stuff. we have done pillow cases, both travel and regular size, that are super cute, and tote bags in class. On our own, we made some really neat pillow cases from Mom's old school T-shirts that we sold to raise money for Relay for Life, some tote bags for gifts, and I have started on a T-shirt quilt with all my old Kappa Delta shirts from college! It is looking really good, and I am excited to get it finished soon!

Here are some Cute pics of some fun times with friends!
